grub 1.97 beta3 nu booteaza windows xp

buna ziua,

ieri am realizat ca versiunea 1.97 beta3 la grub nu mai porneste corect windows xp, am cautat mai multe informatii despre asta si am vazut ca intradevar e o problema. va rog sa imi spuneti daca a reusit cineva sa rezolve acesta problema si daca da, cum?

presupun ca in versiunea finala va porni windows corect?


un pic off-topic: daca fac update de la 9.04 la 9.10 se va instala versiunea noua de grub si versiunile noi la programe, inclusiv programele care nu sunt in 9.04 ?

Am gasit un exemplu de grub.cfg ce se afla in /etc/grub.d ....
Ar trebui sa arate cam asa:

Vezi daca se potriveste la liniile unde scrie despre windows...  Acesta este un exemplu dat de https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub2 si daca vrei sa-l editezi sa-i faci vreo modificare :

sudo chmod +w /boot/grub/grub.cfg  # inlatura 'read-only', necesar chiar si pentru "root"
sudo nano /boot/grub/grub.cfg      # Editeaza ca  "root" (sau cu alt editor)

Despre update-uri am observat atunci cand am trecut de la 9.04 la 9.10 ca la grub de exemplu... se pastra ordinea variantelor de boot dar toate porneau acelasi kernel.... facusem o instalare de 8.10 - upgrade la 9.04 si upgrade la 9.10 ... Toate apareau in lista dar porneu doar Karmic ... nu am fost atent daca a schimbat grub-ul pentru ca dupa doua sesiuni l-am reinstalat pe tot Karmic-ul pe curat de data aceasta ... smile

Iti recomand totusi sa mai astepti pana la varianta finala a Karmic....

Cand multibutezi cu mai multe sisteme linux doar ultimul grub instalat va porni sistemulsau la cel mai nou kernel updatat,celelalte sisteme vor boota mereu cu acelasi vechi kernel indiferent de cate update-uri au.
Asa ca iti vand un pont bun de o lada de bere,ca sa-ti porneasca si celelalte linux-uri intotdeauna cu cel mai nou kernel updatat/upgradat trebuie sa le treci in grub/boot/menu/lst asa:
exemplu:
